Shobhan's Jedbudonga and NTR's Yeduruleni Manishi both were released by Lakshmi Films and had terrific openings, but according to the paper ads, Yeduruleni Manishi collected 17 lakhs above and Jebudonga 16,15,022.  This prompted me to do extensive research to find the facts and the details are summarized as below.

Jebudonga versus Yeduruleni Manishi

Same theaters in which both films were released.

Tenaali - Alankar & Swaraj

Paalakollu – Annapurna

Srikaakulam – Suryamahal

Gudiwada – Neelamahal

Anakaapalli – Raja

Khammam – Raghava Mahal

Warangal – Navin

Secunderabad – Paradise A/c

Khairathabad – Meera

Chadarghat – Kamal

Centers/Theaters in which Jebudonga's first week collection could not be crossed by Yeduruleni Manishi's first week collections.

Kadapa – Rahat > Srinivasa

Chittoor – Srinivasa > Gutunsth

Guntakal – Githa Chithralaya > Late release

Vishaka Patnam – Manorama & Rajeshwari > Alankar & Jyothi

Kakinada – Padmapriya & Devi70mm A/c > Vijay & Devi70mm A/c

Nellore – Sriram A/c & Vijaya Mahal > Kanaka Mahal

Vijaya Nagaram – Sri Krishna & Kalpana > Sri Krishna

Eluru – Rama Mahal & Kesari Picture Palace > Rama Mahal

Bhimavaram – Padmashri & Venkatrama > Padmashri

Machili Patnam – Nataraj & Brindavan > Nataraj

Ongole – Sriram & Srinivaa > Sriram

Thaadepalli Gudem – Venkatrama & Prabhat > Venkatrama

Amalapuram – Srinivasa > Rama Picture Palace

Tenaali - Alankar & Swaraj

Paalakollu – Annapurna

Srikaakulam – Suryamahal

Gudiwada – Neelamahal

Anakaapalli – Raja

Khammam – Raghava Mahal

Warangal – Navin

Secunderabad – Paradise A/c

Khairathabad – Meera

Chadarghat – Kamal

Out of state

Jebudonga – Madras – Sundaram A/c >>> Yeduruleni Manishi – Hospet > Bala Picture House

Centers/Theaters in which Yeduruleni Manishi's first week collections crossed Jebudonga's first week collections.

Yeduruleni Manishi  > Jebudonga

Hyderabad – Venkatesha 70mm A/c > Sangam A/c

Balanagar – Shobhana A/c – No release

Nizamabad – Ashok – Late release

Karim Nagar - Venkateshwara

Madanapalli – Jyothi & Pancharathna – Late release

Adoni – Prabhakar & Dwaraka – Late release

Bellary – Radhika A/c  >  Mubarak

Kurnool – Anand A/c  > Variety

Tirupathi – Pratap & Ramraj > VV Mahal & Venkateshwara

Vijayawada – Apsara A/c & Venkateshwara A/c > Alankar & Sesh Mahal A/c

Guntur – Krishna Mahal > Krishna Picture Palace (side theater same for both theaters)

Rajamundry – Kumari > Lakshmi (second theater Apsara is the same)

Chirala – Gopalakrishna > Late release

Note:  In same theaters released, Jedbudonga's collections could not be crossed by Yeduruleni Manishi as Jebudonga had morning shows in all centers for the first 4 days whereas  Yeduuleni Manishi did not have that chance.  Moreover, Jebudonga released on August 14, 1975 and second day of the film was a public Holiday (Independence Day), which was a huge advantage for Jebudonga.

Jebudonga was released in – 49 theaters; Yeduruleni Manishi – was released in 48 theaters.

Yeduruleni Manishi first week collections were declared as 17 lakhs by producer (NTR favorite Ashwanidutt to make the film a record among Lakshmi Films).

With one theater less than Jebudonga and less number of shows in the first 4 days, how can Yeduruleni Manishi could collect more than Jebudonga?  It is impossible.

Out of total 37 centers (either Jebudonga or Yeduruleni Manishi or both released),

Jebudonga's first week collection were more than Yeduruleni Manishi in 24 centers whereas

Yeduruleni Manishi's first week collections were more than Jebudonga's collections in just 13 centers.  So, at any cost, Yeduruleni Manishi's first week collections did not cross Jebudonga's first week collections.

Mari 42 theatres lo release aina Soggadu ki first week 18 lac ela vachindo adi kooda cheppandi//

42 kaadhu 43.

Reasons for Soggaadu's extraordinary openings were the film was the last film of the then no:1 hero of the year and the year was the no:1
year for the hero after 6 hits in the same year. Audio was already superhit.

The main reasons were:
1. Higher no of shows on the first day
Ex: Soggadu is the first film to exhibit 6 shows in on the first day in Chittoor main theater, Anantapur (2 theaters - 11 shows).
2. Higher no of shows in the first weekend
Soggaadu is the first film in vizag to exhibit 5 shows in main theater for the first 3 days.
3. Higher no of shows in the first week in main theater
ex: Soggaadu is the first film to exhibit 31 shows in Bhimavaram (Venkatrama theater),
4. Higher no of shows in the first week in even second theater
ex: Vizag Sangeeth A/c - 24 shows - 24 shows houseful
5. Spontaneous exhibition of extra shows on the first day and on the 3rd day (Sunday) and on 7th day (Christmans day).
Ex: First day - Due to heavy crowds in the second theater of Vizag, Sangeeth A/c, an extra show was conducted in Geeth A/c on the rirst day.
6. Soggadu was released in more no of bigger theaters
in the first week in more no of bigger theaters throughout AP than any other biggie in that period.

For example
Kakinada - Anand A/c
Nellore - Radha
Machilipatnam - Radhika
Srikaakulam - Srinivasa Mahal
Anakaapalli - Sathyanarayana
Nizamabad - Ramesh
Khammam - Sunder
Tirupathi - VV Maha;
Bellary - Royal

In summary, Soggaadu had created alltime record then by having
1. highest no of shows on the first day.
2. highest no of shows in the first week.
3. 100% occupancy in all the theaters and all shows which was an alltime record throughout AP.
