21. True Romance (1993)

http://imdb.com/title/tt0108399/

One hell of a movie...Directed by Tony Scott..with a screenplay by Tarantino...n with an ensemble cast of fine actors at that time...n brilliant performances from them.. we have an absolute joy ride... Crime caper film at its best..movie's abt 2 lovers on the run from drug dealers...themselves involved in a big fuss... absolutely accurate title for the movie...

The movie is so rich in dialogue.. u'll have many to quote later... one of my favourites....

"If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it."

22. Contact (1997)

http://imdb.com/title/tt0118884/

A 1997 sci fi drama...directed by Robert zemeckis .. adapted from the novel by Carl Sagan...a good example of how to make an engaging sci fi drama.. Dr . Eleanor Arroway..played by Jodie Foster.. is a scientist who has been fascinated by extraterrestrial life ever since a child.. who works for SETI (Search for extraterrestrial intelligence).. Her life long work seems to pay off when she finds signals..apparently sent from a distant star, Vega.... what follows is a dramatic account of how she tries to contact with 'them'.. the problems posed by bureaucrats...n the conflict between Science n God...have been dealt beautifully...

Foster steals the show with her performance... It'll be one of those..which she'll be remembered for..Matthew McConaughey plays the role of a reverend..

23. V For Vendetta (2005)

http://imdb.com/title/tt0434409/

I should be honest.. I myself feel.. I am not qualified enough to review a movie as this... I'll be at loss of words for sure..

A 2005 action thriller...directed by James McTeigue.. with a Screenplay by The Wachowski brothers... set in a dystopic future Britain, under a corrupt Totalitarian government... an anarchist freedom fighter..called 'V'..in a Guy Fawkes mask.. trying to overthrow it..Evey..played by Natalie Portman... gets caught in his mission...

Will stay in my Favorites list forever.. U'll be stunned by the rich dialogue...I can't decide a best one to quote..saw the movie long back..

"Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr Creedy, and ideas are bullet-proof."

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition! The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me "V

24. The Last of The Mohicans (1992)

http://imdb.com/title/tt0104691/

A historical epic film...set in 1757..during the French and Indian war(Native American)..in America in it's infancy..
Daniel Day Lewis..one of the great actors of all time...plays Hawkeye..who is escorting a Colonel's daughters to safety... from the Colonel's rivals.. who are trying to kill them...

The lush green forests..the innocent love n brutal violence n war...all form a passionate drama...which u'll sure fall in love with... a great climax indeed....

Directed by Michael Mann.. his best fictional work.. is a great watch for period movie lovers.

Movie set in London. You hear a lot of cockney(the dialect spoken in London and suburbs) in the movie. Became a fan of Guy ritchie after watching this movie. His other movies snatch and rock 'n' rolla are nice as well.Music tracks(stone roses and few others) used in the movie are really awesome.

Freedom writers is a very good movie. It is indeed a biography.

Haven't seen "What a girl wants" but,  "What woman want" movie is good comedy film which stars Mel Gibson. I think this movie is the inspiration for Telugu Manmadhudu

After seeing Godfather, I wanted to see another movie of Marlon Brando, and downloaded this.

Though the movie is good, felt disappointed by the short role of his. The scene where he comes out of that dungeon was good.

30.Good Morning,Vietnam (1987)

http://imdb.com/title/tt0093105/

An unusual war movie..infact a war-comedy...
Set in 1965..A radio DJ,Adrian Cronauer (Robin Williams)...is sent to Saigon...in the midst of Vietnam war...to work at the Armed Forces Radio Service..for the US troops stationed there...
His show is mixed with news n unpredicted humorous segments n rock n roll songs... he soon proves popular among the troops.. but faces the ire of superiors...

The seriousness of war is deliberately underplayed in the movie.. but when it makes a point.. it is on ur face...

Directed by Barry Levinson.. the movie is Robin Williams' one man show...his entire dialogue when on the radio has been ad libbed... showcasing his stand up comedy talent... equally great performance in dramatic scenes..[thumb]

31. Snow falling on Cedars[1999]

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120834/

[Snow_Falling_on_Cedars_-_Poster]

On the surface,Snow Falling On Cedars,is a court room drama.. but the back story.. a tender romance between 2 young hearts...an American boy and a Japanese girl... is enough to make this movie worthwhile.. any movie set in the  Pacific Northwest can be watched just for the breathtaking landscapes, this movie set in 1950's Washington is a beautiful story of star crossed lovers, Ishamel Chambers[Ethan Hawke] and Hatsue...

Snow Falling On Cedars had great potential, but somewhat falls short from being called an epic romance, never-the-less, a delightful watch for romance movie lovers..  the splendid cinematography n a haunting back ground score.. make this a truly wonderful experience..

[A]

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074119/

Starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, this political thriller is a must watch for the genre fans, Alan J.Pakula the master of that genre, weaves an edge of the seat thriller... the movie is a factual account of two Washington Post journalists,Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, whose investigations played a major role in the Watergate scandal in 1970s USA, which eventually lead to resignation of President Richard Nixon..

The movie is a rare gem among understated conspiracy thrillers, never too dramatic but always engaging... arguably the best among movies where journalists are heroes.. the movie won 4 Oscars including one for Best adapted screenplay...

How many movies have u seen where men enter an all female group disguised as women.. well, Some Like It Hot, is the mother of all such movies, thats why, even 55 years after its release you'll find it funny.. the movie mostly owes it to incredible performances of Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis.. and the eternal charming face of Marilyn Monroe...crafted by Billy Wilder, one of the greatest cinematic geniuses ever lived, this classic comedy never gets old..

34. The Searchers {1956}

[large_9Qzl6R2LJw6CNJpDbMje2gbQpXJ]

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0049730/

The Searchers is not your typical Western film.. Set in 1868,John Wayne plays Ethan Edwards,a Civil war veteran,a racist without apology, who is on an obsessive quest for his  niece Debbie, kidnapped by the Comache Indians, who also killed his entire family..

John Ford directed this masterpiece, a timeless Western classic, which speaks a lot of issues a lot daringly for the time it was released.. The Searchers based on a book Alan Le May will be a memorable watch for Western genre lovers...the breathtaking locales n camera work deserve a special mention.. watch out for the iconic final shot...

35. Patton {1970}

[patton-1970]

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066206/

Patton is a war film,"as epic as it can get"...its a biographical account about US General George S. Patton during the World War II... George C. Scott plays Patton the unapologetically bloodthirsty General, who loves war more than anything.. it'll be one of the most electrifying performances you'll see in a war movie...

Franklin J. Schaffner directed this epic war movie, written for the screen by Francis Ford Coppola, who went on to make Apocalypse Now..another great war film but set in Vietnam..
The movie won seven Oscars, including Best Picture n Best Actor for Scott, which he refused to accept, the 1st actor in history to do so...

You would be surprised watching the huge scale the movie was made 45 years back...the opening monologue by the General with a huge American flag behind him, will stay in your mind forever.

36. Moonstruck {1987}

[moonstruck]

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093565/

Frankly speaking I dont remember much to talk about Moonstruck.. mostly coz i watched it 8 years back, after which i swam through a sea of romance movies, but what all i remember is, if u r watching it for the 1st time you'll love it for sure..
The story is about a middle aged Italian woman Loretta Castorini[Cher] in Newyork, falling for the brother of her deceased lover... I am sure you'll find it refreshing even after watching 500 romantic comedies.. I honestly want to revisit this movie in near feature...

Its one of those rare movies where you'd find Nicolas Cage adorable..[tongue] Directed by the veteran  Norman Jewison, with a refreshingly funny dailogue... i hope this will find a place in your favorite romance movies list..
