https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/in-big-boost-to-isro-centre-approves-rs-10-000-crore-plan-for-future-missions-1863715

The government has approved a further Rs 10,000 crore to boost ISRO's GSLV and PSLV programmes

*New Delhi: *

Giving a boost to the Indian Space Research Organisation or ISRO, the central government has approved the over-10,000 crore plan to give an impetus to the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle and Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark-III programmes. The move will help ISRO further its launches of the light and heavy satellites.

The cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also gave its approval for funding 30 PSLV operational flights under the programme. The PSLV programme is expected to meet the launch requirements of satellites for Earth Observation, navigation and space sciences and will also ensure the continuity of production by the Indian industry.

Funds amounting to Rs 6,131 crore includes the cost of 30 PSLV vehicles, essential facility augmentation, programme management and launch campaign.

Over the last few decades, ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle or PSLV has become its most-trusted and most-consistent workhorse rocket. The PSLV has been ISRO's backbone, and has made India self-reliant in launching Earth Observation satellites, disaster management satellites, and navigation satellites, most of which are considered light-weight satellites.

For launching heavy satellites, India is helped by France, which has rockets capable of carrying much heavier satellites. France has helped India launch heavy satellites from Kourou in French Guinea in South America.

The PSLV Continuation Programme (Phase 6) will meet the demand for launch of satellites at a frequency of up to eight launches per year, with maximum participation from the Indian industry. All operational flights would be completed during the period 2019-2024, the government said in a statement.

The PSLV continuation programme was initially sanctioned in 2008, and four phases have been completed and the fifth phase is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2019-20. The approval for the sixth phase will cater to the launch of satellite missions from the third quarter of 2019-20 to first quarter of 2023-24.

With the recent successful launch of PSLV-C41 on April 12, PSLV has completed three developmental and 43 operational flights and the last 41 flights have been successful.

The cabinet also approved funding for the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark-III Continuation Programme (Phase-1), consisting of 10 GSLV (Mk- III) flights, at an estimated cost of Rs 4,338 crore.

The GSLV Mk-III Continuation Programme (Phase-1) is the first phase of operational flights that will enable the launch of four-tonne class of communication satellites.

The operationalisation of GSLV Mk-III will make India self-reliant in launching four-tonne class of communication satellites, sustain and strengthen the space infrastructure and reduce the dependence on procured launches from foreign countries.

The cabinet was also apprised of a memorandum of understanding signed between India and Oman in February in Muscat for peaceful use of the outer space.

the only thing good about our society is science and the people  who are striving to help disseminate the gained knowledge to public in the form of applications. . .the more we spend on science, the more efficient ways to solve the current problems will be found. . .

development activities would seem irrelevant when people are dying of hunger, ala ani development activities lekunda one cannot solve that problem. . .ofcourse, mana desam lo priorities are more focused on getting votes rather than building infra, and things are being changed in that front slowly. . .ofcourse same problem anni desallo undi, people are inherently corrupt, only the zeal for advancement can push our problems away, not by stopping

We are all very proud of Isro for the great things they did so far.

however, I wonder why not even a single image from Isro is coming out showing the Chinese movements at the boarder? are our satellites working?

Don't bullshit me by saying it leaves away our secretes etc. The boarder images are already coming in public in high resolution from ESA images!

I know we have very good space infrastructure but why not release at least some images?
In this case, releasing images showing movement on Chinese side will strengthen our case and also add more credibility to Indian Army and Government in the eyes of general public and international community.

I am not talking about releasing images of army bases. I am talking about the boarder flash points.

And, if our army has access to those images, why can't they detect Chinese movements?

Valla problems vallaki untay, they follow rules etc are very dangerous excuses which rational people should not accept.

I think our defence and research leadership (not soldiers) is also plagued with the usual drawbacks of laziness, organisational politics and corruption.

Let's see what happens with Galwan in long term. Clear test of our calibre.

if we release satellite images, which show that until few years back no chinese posts there but only now came up .. then everyone will start blasting modi that he failed .. so they are not releasing them but may submit to international forums as witness that chinese are the aggressors ...

modi and co must have trusted chinese to an extent to believe that they will come and they will leave, as it happend before like during doklam times .. even in our army words, the troops are very familiar with indian border forces but suddenly on that night the troops deployed were diff and meant for surprise attacks ...

we are more focussed on pak borders they kept us engaged a lot on that front .. so we were a bit optimistic about our china relations an modis bon homie with xiping

NAVIC is a diaster in hiding .. the synchronous clock issues we could not resolve .. initially we started with our own atomic clocks and eventually we ended up importing them .. but still we are NOT able to solve the accuracy issue of NAVIC ... thats why at best its in prototype stage ...like our LCA project .. the prototype wil be there but its useless and gets outdated by the time we solve it

ISRO or DRDO .. unless they get IIT kind of talent, they will have issues
