Tourism all set to witness major leap in Vizag

http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-andhrapradesh/k19rz3/article24029823.ece/alternates/FREE_660/29vzbmg2tourisGC142S39P3jpgjpg

Hot destination: A view of the TU 142 Aircraft Museum on beach road in Visakhapatnam.

VUDA, APTDC come out with a string of proposals to add new attractions

A boom is expected in the tourism sector in Visakhapatnam in the near future with some major tourist attractions coming up on the beaches, improvement of tourist amenities, plan to revive heli-tourism and introduction of water sports.

While the AP Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has provided basic amenities such as shacks, restaurants, toilets, cottages and changing rooms at some of the popular tourist attractions, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) also has plans to draw more tourists through development of the beach front in a big way. “The TU 142 Aircraft Museum, which was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind on Dec 7, 2017, has already attracted 4 lakh footfalls and generated revenue of Rs. 1.5 crore by March-end this year,” VUDA Vice-Chairman P. Basanth Kumar told The Hindu .

Museum

“The government has sanctioned Rs. 20 crore for provision of museum-related works at Kursura Submarine Museum. Our plan is to suspend the small aircraft, Sea Harrier, in the air and develop it as a unique tourist attraction.”

“VUDA also identified 1,300 acres on the Yarada Hill for development of a botanical garden, golf course and high-end villas and a star hotel. We have sent the proposal to the government for consideration. The Chief Minister, however, wanted greater focus on hotel rooms to attract tourists. A fresh DPR is being prepared with plans for more hotel rooms apart from the botanical garden and other proposals,” he said. APTDC is upgrading the facilities at its tourist cottages at Rushikonda. A new kutcha road has been developed around the Rushikonda Hill to provide a second approach to the beach. It had set up souvenir shops, parking space and a few other amenities at this popular beach in the past.

APTDC has also constructed four shacks at Yarada beach, another popular beach, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Toilets and children’s play equipment have been provided. Construction of toilets and provision of power connection are pending.

The cottages at Lammasingi (Lambasingi), well-known for its chilling temperatures in winter, are nearing completion and the facility is expected to be ready by August-end. The APTDC also has plans to construct four shacks at Erramatti Dibbalu. Basic amenities have been provided at Thadiguda Waterfall near Anantagiri in the Agency Area of the district.

The facilities, provided at a cost of Rs. 35 lakh, include: a viewpoint, steps to reach the water fall, safety railing and changing rooms.

Some where I read this it's just poetic lines but still I feel relevant

That the lord Sreekakula Andhra maha vishnu blessed this people with 1000kms coast line from Pulicat lake in south kolleru at the center chillaka lake at the north.
A clear geographical boundary that separate from other children of this nation..

Something like this...

Gandikota: The Hidden Grand Canyon of India 🍁

Gandikota is a small village located in Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh, India. The region of Gandikota was established in 1123 under the Western Chalukyan king of Kalyana named Ahavamalla Someswara I.

DeIlqinU8AEnXIG.jpg

The Gandikota fort was constructed by the Kappa king during 13th century.
Situated on the banks of river Pennar, Gandikota derives its name from two Telugu words ‘Gandi’ meaning gorge and, ‘kota’ meaning fort.

DeInkIrV4AE5ONI.jpg

Also known as George fort, it is guarded by a huge entrance gate that’s 20 feet high and 101 bastions each over 40 feet high. The fort is surrounded by the deep gorge, impenetrable hills and dense forest. The landscape also includes monolithic boulders of red granite.

DeIoQKfV0AACTPL.jpg

The area is full of rocky plains and dry plateau landforms with the Penner river flowing in the background. At present, Gandikota Fort lies in ruins and it is now only a tourist attraction.

DeIpIZeUQAADLkn.jpg

Gandikota have been under the rule of numerous empires- The Chalukya, Viyanagara, Nayaka, Mughal, Quli Qutub and also the British. Hence, the region has a mixed reminiscence of all these reigns, with a higher significance of Nayaka dynasty who took over the control of this fort.

DeIpczVVAAIlfuZ.jpg

The people here have a distinctive culture; their way of dressing, festivals and food etc. are inspired by their ancestors who ruled the Gandikota. The Pemmasani Nayaks who seem to have ruled this place for three centuries is belived to have descended from the Kakatiya Dynasty.

DeIpsR-VwAE8GIW.jpg

This quaint little village situated on the banks of the Pennar River, is home to some major historical structures. The fort premises include small fortresses, a granary, two beautiful temples and a mosque.

Yes , a MOSQUE 🙈

DeIqDgAVMAErpSb.jpg

All of these ruins speak of their prime even as the structures seem to be on the verge of crumbling.
Gandikota Fort comprises of several other structures, such as, a palace, a magazine, another granary and a pigeon tower which included fretted windows.

DeIqONjU0AUioNJ.jpg

This temple has its importance due to very ancient. This temple is an example of fine architecture and design. It is believed that this temple is constructed before 500 years ago. The building is very attractive and put a dashing impact on devotee because of its surroundings.

DeIq2Z2U0AI7hPh.jpg

There are yet many unexplored places and things in the region. Recent architectural research has revealed the presence of underground passages that connect the fort with the valley. The traps set to capture leopards and other animals are still in their place.

Lambasingi, the Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh to get tourist cottages by November

http://images.newindianexpress.com/uploads/user/imagelibrary/2018/5/19/w600X300/Kashmir_of_AP_to.jpg

VISAKHAPATNAM:  Come winter holidays, you will be able to spend ‘more’ time at Lambasingi, the interior tribal hamlet of Chintapalle area in the Visakhapatnam Agency. The hamlet, which draws lakhs of tourists from in and around the State, for recording single-digit minimum temperatures during peak winters, will have enough accommodation for its visitors this year.

The main complaint of the visitors, till now, had been lack of accommodation in this ‘Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh’. Finally, the Tourism department has brought pace in the construction works of the cottages, meant for the tourists and is sure to get the facilities ready by November this year. Lambasingi came to light after it recorded zero degree Celsius for the first time during December 2012. Lack of accommodation had been a major issue with the tourists visiting Lambasingi.

The proposal for construction of accommodation in the tourist hotspot was made two years ago. The works are going on at a decent pace now. The Tourism department has allotted about 18.5 acre of land in the hamlet and the facilities coming up there include, cottages for tourists, a restaurant, a kitchen, a conference hall, parking place, play area, landscaped garden areas etc.
